Happy Wednesday, you guys! Today, I am sharing my back to school essentials. It is that time of year again: Back to School Time. My husband and I are both school teachers, so we are preparing our classrooms and getting back in the swing of things.
There are a few things that I consider necessities at work. Some of these items travel with me daily and others stay in my classroom throughout the year.
1. Columbia Fleece Jacket
I have been known to get cold throughout the day, so I always have this jacket sitting on the back of my chair. I have used this same jacket for the past three years, I think. It is fleece, but it isn’t too heavy. I will take it home every week or two and give it a good wash.
2. Vera Bradley Lunch Sack
In the past couple of years, I have tested out many different lunch boxes. A couple of years ago, I was actually carrying a smaller lunch box. I didn’t notice it until the end of the school year, but it was so small that I was carrying Wal-Mart plastic grocery bags with my lunch and using my lunch box to carry random things like silverware and ibuprofen.
Then, I finally woke up and realized I needed a new lunch box. So, I started using this one last year. It has worked so far. The quality is great and it has a nice laminate coating on the outside of the fabric that prevents spills from ruining the bag.
This will be my second year carrying it. So, we will see if I have the same comments next summer.
3. Vera Bradley lanyard
I love lanyards! I have used them every year I have been teaching. They give me the freedom to use my hands to make copies or check my mail box and still have my classroom keys.
I usually invest in a new one every year from Vera Bradley. I always get a new sale print.
4. TOMS shoes
I think I may be addicted to TOMS. I currently have 4 pairs in my closet (burlap, black, red, and snow leopard) and I am always adding to my collection. I wear them almost every day to school. The black classic pair that I have in my wardrobe is probably my sixth or seventh pair. I wear them about 4 out of the 5 work days a week, which means I wear them out fast. So, when that time comes, a new pair is always on order.
I do not like high heels! And, I am sure not wearing uncomfortable shoes to walk around my classroom all day. I still like to be cute, though. And, TOMS definitely fit the bill for me.
5. Crayola Snack Packers
These little lunch containers are so handy. I have 4 or 5 of them in my pantry and I use them every week to carry lunch to and from school. I use them for not only sandwiches, but salads, dips, leftovers, etc.
You can get them at Wal-Mart for under a dollar.
6. Tervis Glasses
Last, but definitely not least is my collection of Tervis glasses. I carry one every day to work full of unsweet tea. And, more than likely, if you were to stop me when I was out and about, I would also have a Tervis glass full of tea. I take my tea everywhere I go.
Tervis glasses are amazing! I have a nice collection, my husband has a collection, and so do my kids. They wash well, hold up, and they have a lifetime guarantee. And, Tervis stands behind their guarantee. A couple of years ago, I had 5 or 6 that had water between the plastic barriers, so I filled out the exchange form and mailed them to the company. A couple of week later, I received a box full of replacements for no extra money (except postage to get them to Tervis). So, they are definitely worth the price.
So, what are some of your work necessities? I would love to hear all about them.
