Welcome to Week 5 of my 7 week Creating an Emergency Station series. Today is all about the clothing that will be placed in each person’s backpack.
But, first, if you missed the first four weeks, check out the links below:
Each member of the family will have the following items:
- socks (2 pairs)
- undergarments (2 of each)
- sturdy shoes
All of these items, minus the sturdy shoes, will be placed in each person’s backpack. We wear all of the shoes that we have in our household, so we do not have an extra pair to place in our emergency station. But, my theory is that if something bad happens, those will be on our feet.
Anytime we have to leave our house for a tornado warning (to go to a church basement), putting on tennis shoes is always the first thing we do.
Mommy & Daddy’s Items
Sister & Brother’s Items
Remember, Derrick’s diapers and wipes were placed in a separate plastic bag.
In addition to these items, each person got to include one of the following:
- comfort item
- book, puzzle, or game
Kate chose a Clifford book and puzzle (she insisted on having a baby puzzle like her brother).
Derrick chose (ok, I chose for him) a Dr. Seuss book and puzzle.
Nathan and I didn’t feel like we needed much, so we only picked one thing each. Nathan chose a Bible (I was going to place this in the emergency essentials kit, but decided the backpack would be best) and I chose a notebook with a few pens.
To prevent water damage (you never know about water in emergency situations), I placed all of the comfort items (minus the puzzle bases) and clothing items in plastic bags.
Stay tuned next week when I cover our Family Essentials Kit!
