This week’s DIY storage challenge involves two left over almond containers. These little containers are very well made, do not contain sharp edges on the top, and can store a nice amount of supplies or goodies. So, I knew I wanted to use them somewhere in my house.
Side note: If you decide to try this project, make sure you choose containers that DO NOT have sharp inside edges.
As I am sure most of you know, my daughter got a desk this fall. I found it on a facebook yard sale site and gave it a makeover.
Miss. Kate has spent the last couple of months trying to organize the top and drawers. You know, little girl style! Her idea of desk goodies and mine are too different things. But, it is her desk and I want her to put what she wants in the drawers and on the top.
So, I decided to let her use the almond containers for her desk. We added some pretty scrapbook paper and they were ready to be used.
- 2 almond containers
- scrapbook paper
- hot glue gun
Step 1: Clean the Container & Remove the Label.
The label was super easy to remove. You could probably spray paint the outside too because they are made of metal.
Step 2: Measure, Cut, & Apply the Scrapbook Paper.
Make sure you check the scrapbook paper before you begin to make sure it fits around the entire container. I made the mistake and didn’t. I got it all cut and ready to go and I didn’t have enough paper to fit around the entire outside. So, I had to start over with a new piece of scrapbook paper.
I applied the scrapbook paper to the container using my small hot glue gun.
And, THIS happens quite often while working on pictures for my posts…
It is called a Bella Photobomb!!!
Thank goodness I was done with this area. But, then, once I moved to Kate’s room, she tried to get in those pictures too.
And, the finished product sitting on Kate’s desk in her bedroom…
Kate wanted to keep Kleenex and antibacterial solution in one container and her fun jewelry in the other.
And, that is all for this simple DIY storage project.
