I seriously can’t believe another year has gone by and I am still posting on this blog. What started as a crazy idea to fill my summer months two years ago has turned into something I really enjoy. I couldn’t be happier about it. Even though last summer I really started to wonder if I would ever get the desire to write again.
My pregnancy took a toll on me this last go round. It changed my feelings, health, and motivation to do anything. I prayed that the old me would return and she finally did at the beginning of this year.
Even with the small amount of blogging that I did, I still learned some things…
#1 – Be Personal
Readers want to get to know you as a person. Sometimes I am not the best at conveying how I feel through speaking. I don’t know if it was my childhood that made me that way or maybe I never really learned how, but it is very hard for me to let my wall down and become vulnerable to others. But, through writing, somehow I can go there. I guess public speaking is not in my near future! ; )
#2 – Watch How Your Write
Sometimes when I become too personal, my writing can get a little misinterpreted. I learned that through a post I made at the end of April. I made a post on a Friday of one of the worst weeks I have experienced this year. Then, later that evening, I ended up in the E.R. I thought I was having a stroke or had a brain tumor because the left side of my face (including my mouth) was going numb. Turns out it was all the stress and anxiety I had been putting on myself.
After my trip to the ER (1:00 am), I got on my blog excited about what people thought about my inspiration for the day. Instead of positive remarks, I had one anonymous reply from someone saying I was uncaring and insensitive. It broke my heart because that wasn’t my intention at all. After thinking and thinking and thinking, I removed the post and learned from my mistake. Now, I try to make sure that I read and reread every post. My intention is not to offend or hurt anyone. That is my promise!
#3 – Post Often
This is the part I am working on more. I did good the first year and then slacked off because of time and pregnancy. Now, my load has gotten a little lighter… I have completed all of my graduate classes (minus a paper and exam). So, I have more free time to devote to this fun part of my life. Thank you for bearing with me through all of the downtime.
#4 – Watermark Photos
This is a huge one! With the increased interest in Websites like Pinterest, your photos can circulate and pop-up everywhere. So, you want people to know they are your photos. So, don’t forget to place your name and/or Website on your photos.
Now, I have one HUGE goal that I would like to accomplish before my 3rd anniversary…
I would love to be able to offer some of my favorite products free-of-charge to my devoted readers. Many of you have been with me since the beginning and I greatly appreciate your support. Offering giveaways would be a great way for me to say “thank you” for all you do for me, which involves reading my rants, raves, and ideas. So, I am going to try my hardest to make this happen… not for me, but for each and every one of you!!!
Thank you again for reading each and every day!!!
