In my home, daily mail has finally gotten to the point where it is not taking over our household. No more sitting it on the edge of the counter until it gets lost. With a little tweaking, we have developed a system that is working for us.
This system includes the following items:
After I get our mail from our mailbox, I sort through it and determine where it needs to go:
- holding area – I place magazines, coupons, or things that I plan on looking at later here.
- bill drawer – I place all of the bills that I receive in this drawer until the end of the month (when I sit down and pay bills). It helps me keep up with them. Plus, they are out of my daily sight.
- call drawer – If I receive something that requires a phone call, I place it in this drawer.
- trash – All of the junk mail gets shredded and placed in the trash can.
