Happy Friday! A few days ago, I shared the Ikea Rast dresser that I hacked for Derrick’s nightstand. I love it so much that I am thinking about purchasing myself one to use in my bedroom. I love that it was reasonably priced and has three drawers. This momma is all about pieces that contain lots of storage.
Y’all got an upclose and personal look at the exterior of the nighstand, but I didn’t show you how I organized the drawers. Well, today, I am going to share that information with you.
Derrick just turned 2 and is still in diapers (even though we are trying to convince him that using the potty is so much better). So, his nightstand still centers around diaper changing.
Since Derrick has been born, we have had all of his baby toiletries in this little unorganized brown bin…
This little bin has been moved all over our house. I have tried to keep it organized throughout, but it has been impossible. Every time I get it completely organized, it goes right back to being a mess. Plus, the kids like to throw toys inside of it. So, you can only imagine what I found while moving everything out of it.
Now, everything is stored in Derrick’s new nightstand.
I tried to keep Derrick’s top drawer for his books and DVDs (in the future). He is about to move to a big boy bed, so I wanted to make the top drawer his little entertainment drawer.
Side note: I wanted to place bedtime books in this drawer. I am sure these books will continuously change. All of his other books are in the playroom closet (post in the future).
Derrick’s middle drawer holds some of his toiletries; brushes, powder, nasal bulb, etc.. It also holds his burp cloths. I know what you may be thinking. Why does a 2-year-old still need burp cloths? We have kept these for wiping his nose, mouth, and face when he is sick or when he is a messy eater (which is pretty often).
Side note: I did not place any items in this drawer that may cause harm to Derrick. His ointments, thermometer, and medications are in his bathroom.
The bottom drawer holds his diapers and wipes. I sure hope in the near future that this drawer is completely changed. I pray that Derrick starts showing interest in the potty chair soon. Fingers crossed!
Derrick’s nightstand is currently very functional for us. If anything changes with this setup, which I am hoping involves the diapers, I will definitely share an update.
