Since before we moved into our new home, I have been working on my kids’ bathroom. Their bathroom isn’t a big space, but I wanted to add a few personal touches to it anyways. There are extra things that we would like to do down the road, like changing the color of the cabinets, but for right now, we are pretty satisfied with it.
Moving into a new house places many items on your to-do list. We are attempting to get the important things done first and the wants will come later on. Painting cabinets in our house isn’t at the top of our list for this year and probably the next year too. You have to prioritize!
This is a look at the space before we moved in…
Not bad at all. We just wanted to add a few personal touches that look more like Kate and Derrick.
Making a bathroom fit a boy and girl isn’t an easy task. I gave it a lot of thought and had no idea how to accomplish it until one of my college roommates posted a picture of an adorable personalized shower curtain that she got her boys. BINGO! A personalized shower curtain was the perfect way to make the space great for both Derrick and Kate.
I purchased two wooden initials from Hobby Lobby for about $1.50 each and used acrylic paint to make them pink and green. They are attached to the wall using Command Velcro strips, so if I decide to put something else there, it shouldn’t be a problem at all removing the letters.
Above the toilet, I used one of the magazine wall files that I was using on our command center at our home in Caruthersville. I would like to eventually make a command center in our new home, but I want to try something a little different. So, this wire rack is a perfect holder for bathroom reading materials.
I plan on removing Kate’s name from the plate on the front as well, but the pretty paper may stay (insert smile).
The little green bin on the left holds extra rolls of toilet paper. It is a Room Essentials y-weave small bin from Target. The Scentsy on the right is called Dots, I think. I am pretty sure it has been discontinued.
We try our best to keep their sink area pretty clear except for soap and hand sanitizer.
The print is from Pen and Paint on Etsy. I own 5 or 6 of Lindsay’s prints and I love them all. If you haven’t checked out her shop, you definitely should. I have a running wish list.
And, last but not least is their linen closet. The linen closet hasn’t changed much at all from the rent house we were living in until January. It is set up basically the same way.
