My summer break has officially started, which means so has my cleanout. I have been itching to start this challenge and share it with y’all, but I wanted to make sure I had enough time to complete it fully.
Thursday, I blocked out the entire day to tackle my clothing. My son was at daycare, so I knew it would be the perfect time to focus on this area. And, let me tell you, it took a lot more time than I had anticipated. Four hours to be exact.
I thought since I moved last August and again this past January that it would be a simple task. Boy was I wrong.
I know Marie Kondo states that it is vital to place everything in your floor and I was really wondering why, until I started the challenge. It was an eye-opening experience. I had no idea I had the amount of clothes I did until I placed them all on the floor, stood over them, and stared. I even broke three hangers in the process of moving to and from my closet.
Now, I did not go by her method 100% and I explain that all in the video. There are some practices that I have been using since college that work great for me. So, I did not feel the need to change those methods. If the way I was doing things brings me joy, then I have met the goal of this book.
Sorry for the lack of pictures! It took so much time to film and edit this video that I forgot to take pictures through the entire process.
I hope you watch the video, sorry it is a bit long, and I hope you follow me through the entire process.
I am super happy with my progress on Day 1 of this challenge. I was able to get rid of 86 items!
- 1 – coat
- 5 – dresses
- 12 – bottoms
- 15 – sweaters
- 32 – tops
- 1 – swimsuit
- 5 – pj tops
- 6 – pj bottoms
- 6 – pairs of socks
- 3 – panties
I will donate everything, but the panties, to my local Goodwill!
And, here is a little rundown of the next areas that I will be covering on this challenge (not the whole list, though):
- Accessories & Shoes
