A couple of years ago, I created and shared my meal planner/grocery shopping list with everyone. At that moment, I thought it was organized very well and going to be extremely useful to me. That is until I actually started using it.
Overall, I still like the meal planner, but it had a few flaws. First, I did not like the fact that I broke up each day into breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Honestly, for our household (remember, every household is different), the breakfast and lunch rows were not even needed. Deciding what to eat for breakfast and lunch doesn’t take that much thought around our household and a lot of times, we eat the same thing everyday throughout the week (except on Saturdays and Sundays). So, it really didn’t require a detailed daily plan. Writing the items down on the “to-buy” side would have been sufficient.
Next, I did not give myself a lot of space for each daily meal item. I tend to write big and those spots were too small for me.
Last, the “weekly snacks” section wasn’t really necessary. I think placing the snack items under the “to buy” section would’ve been good enough. Originally, it seemed a little redundant!
So, I took these things into consideration and created a new meal planner that I feel fits my planning and shopping a lot better.
