We have all collected things in our lives. In high school, it was Ty beanie babies for me. I think I had over a hundred of those little critters, not including my sister’s collection. I still have some floating around my household and stored in the attic. I just can’t part with some of them.
In college, it was magazines with my favorite actresses on the cover. Just like the beanie babies, I have those stored away in the attic. Some of them date back to 1996. Those little beauties are almost 20 years old, so I just can’t part with them.
Which brings me to now…
Since graduating college, getting married, and starting a family, I haven’t really collected anything. You may think that I collect Happy Everything bases and attachments, but I really wouldn’t consider that collecting. I would consider it the inspiration for my home decor design. I have them displayed in my kitchen, living room, and office. I love the bright colors and happy designs. But, I am not in the mindset that I have to purchase every piece when it comes out or when I see them in a store.
But, I think I just found my new obsession… Vintage Pyrex dishes
Right after I graduated college, my mother gave me 3 nested bowls that were my grandmother’s. At that moment, I didn’t really want them. I thought they were a little unattractive, but I took them because I needed them.
Let me just say that I am SO GLAD I decided to take those bowls from my mom. They have been the best bowls ever. And, now, I am on a mission to find more. I have learned that this pattern is called “Autumn Harvest” and was introduced in 1979. Even though I love these dishes, I do not think I want to collect this exact pattern. I love these because they were my grandmother’s, but I want brighter dishes in my home. Hey! I may even want to display them on my kitchen nook.
So, after some research, the colors and patterns that I am now hunting for include:
I chose these three patterns because they are all bright, girly, and will blend well with my existing dishes. If you would like to see a complete list of their vintage patterns check out this link.
Now, where do I start? If anyone knows where to shop for these pieces please email me or comment below. I would greatly appreciate it. Wish me luck!!!
