Welcome to my happy place! Before we get into the tour, let’s take it back to our house-hunting days (the end of 2014).
When we were looking at homes with our real estate agent, I knew our new house had to have one thing, an office. I was willing to be creative and turn something that wasn’t a traditional office into one, but I deeply wanted our home to have a space that I could devote to my blog planning and creating.
After searching a few times without any success, my husband sat me down and told me that we may have to choose a house that didn’t have space for an office. I wasn’t really ok with it, but I knew I may not have a choice. We were in a time crunch because we had to be out of the house that we were living in at the end of January.
The last set of homes we went and looked at were ones that I really wasn’t interested in, but I wanted to look at random houses to say I had given myself more options.
Well, guess what folks? The house we chose was one of those houses I had no intention of buying. When we walked in and saw the gigantic room in the back that we could use as a playroom and office, we were sold.
If you walk into the room from the kitchen, the office side is on the left.
Now, after 4 months of organizing, arranging, and rearranging things, here is a look at our new office…
The left side of the space is mine and the right side is my husband’s. I tried to make each side symmetrical, but centered around each one of our interests and personalities.

My Husband’s Side
I did not open up any of his drawers or cabinets for this post and video. I felt that was his private spaces and I didn’t think it was right to show them on my blog and YouTube channel.
My Project Workstation
Up until about 2 weeks ago, the center of this room was empty. I didn’t like it at all, either. I remembered I had a folding table in the garage, so I brought it in, cleaned it up, threw a white tablecloth over it, and now it is my extra workstation.
It is great for filming and blog photos because I have just enough space on the sides of the table for my lights.
And, you guys know I have a thing for pennant buntings. Well, I have a huge one that hangs above our office. If you would like to purchase one, I have the etsy shop info below. I purchased it myself right before we moved last year. It is the same one that Kristy from Barn Owl Primitives has hanging in her studio. I loved hers so much, I had to order one for my special space.
Overall, I am very happy with the way this room came together. It represents me and my husband pretty well and it is my favorite spot in my house. All of my favorite things sit on or around my desk and it makes me happy to sit in this space and work on fun things to share with you guys.
