Do you ever have one of those moments where you see someone else’s idea and it sets one off in your head? Well, that is exactly what happened to me when I watched Alejandra’s “How to Organize Coffee and Tea” video.
For the longest time, I have been scrambling around my kitchen in the mornings to make coffee. The coffee pot is beside the sink, coffee is across the room beside the stove, and the filters are in the pantry. Then, after the coffee is done, mugs are beside the sink, sweetener and creamer are in the pantry, and the spoons are in a drawer. Get my drift… So, I decided to move all of these things to one central location… The corner of our kitchen was not being used to the best of it’s potential, so it became our new “Beverage Station.”
Here is a look at the space before the change…
We were keeping all of our nice dishes that we received at our wedding in this cabinet. Basically, the cabinet was full of items that never got used. So, these things got shifted to other cabinets where they fit better and didn’t take up as much space. And, the cabinet now stores all of our cups, mugs, and glasses.
Next, the coffee pot, paper towel holder, and coffee got moved from beside the sink to the corner counter.
You may remember seeing the last drawer of this area last summer. It was full of junk, literally! It was our catch-all drawer until we fixed that issue. Then, it went from one extreme to the other. After that moment, it stayed completely empty. Another space not being used to it’s full potential.
So, this drawer got a makeover. New small white bins were added and the coffee and tea condiments were added to the drawer.
Now, I can wake up in the morning, walk to the kitchen, and fix myself a full cup of coffee without feeling like I have exercised.
