Welcome to the week I have been waiting to share since the beginning of October… Planner Week! I have been a planner addict ever since I was in middle school. But, back then, I carried a simple lined notebook that I creativity made into a planner. My planners have come a long way since those days.
I have written several posts about my love for planners. It is my #1 organizational tool by far! I carry it everywhere I go… the grocery store, shopping, home to see my parents, and the list goes on. So, I have decided to devote 4 posts to this love of mine.
So, why 4 posts?
I have found a whole new world that I am pretty ecstatic about and it all started with this video…
“Filofax vs. Erin Condren” by Kristina from Pretty Shiny Sparkly. Definitely check out her YouTube channel. I am kinda addicted now. She is amazing and she has a great sense of humor.
But, overall, this video started it all.
Let me give you a little back story and what in the world I am talking about…
Even though I have been a planner addict for most of my life, I haven’t found that perfect planner. I have tried them all and I have never been satisfied with my purchases. As crazy as it may sound, I purchased three planners for this school year and disliked them all. Don’t get me wrong, they were great planners, but they didn’t fit me.
So, in October, I started doing some research and I stumbled upon Kristina’s video. Once she mentioned a Filofax and the versatility, I started doing some massive research. When I say massive, I am not exaggerating. I sat at my computer an entire weekend and watched YouTube video after YouTube video and read blog post after blog post. Yep! I am a nerd, but I am ok with that. I embrace it!
So, after several months of debating, I am here to share what I decided to purchase and use for 2015.
What Size did I Choose?
After researching the sizes, I decided to go with the A5 size Filofax. A5 is the bigger size Filofax. There is only one that is bigger than the A5 and that is the A4. I write big and have trouble seeing (yes, my eye sight is horrible), so I felt the A5 would be perfect for me.
I know a lot of people feel that the A5 is too big for daily use because it can be heavy to tote around, but I carry a lot in a given day to and from work, so it should fit me just fine.
Only time will tell for sure.
What Style did I Choose?
This is where the search got a little tricky. If you have ever researched Filofaxes, you know there are several different styles.
My goal was to be able to use my planner for a planner and a wallet, so I decided to go with the Finsbury in Electric Blue. I loved the amount of interior pockets and credit card slots. Plus, the leather was stiff, which I like.
You may be looking at the price and thinking, “Did she really pay that much for a planner?”
And, the answer would be, “No.”
I had saved up some contributor money and used that for my purchase. I purchased the planner through Pens and Leather.
At the time I purchased my planner, it was half off and I had my contributor money to use. So, overall, I paid about $35.00 extra for it. And, honestly, I would pay that much for a wallet.
Why did I Choose Electric Blue?
I wanted my first Filofax to be a fun color. Even though the name says blue, this planner is by far purple. And, I have been a fan of the color purple since I was a young girl.
Plus, I knew what inserts I was going to place in my planner and I wanted to make sure they matched. Yes, I am one of those girls. If things don’t match, it drives me insane. I can’t help it.
So, What Inserts did I Choose?
This was the easiest decision of them all. I have been using Jen from iheartorganizing’s yearly calendar for 2014 to record all of my blog posts after posting.
I loved the colors, layout, and felt it looked just like me (yes, calendars have to fit me).
So, I decided to go with her entire planner for 2015.
Jen was so sweet that she offered to send me a planner and personalized cover sheet for free.
And, she will be giving one away today too!!!
In her shop, you can purchase…
The Full Size (8 1/2″ x 11″)
Junior Size (5 1/2″x 8 1/2″)
I went with the junior size, since my Filofax is smaller than a regular sheet of paper. So, if you are needing inserts for your Filofax, Jen’s junior size printables are perfect. I was able to punch holes and insert them into my planner perfectly.
And, here is a look at my 2015 planner…
And, now, you have a chance to get a 2015 planner and cover sheet (full or junior size) from Jen from iheartorganizing.
