Pretty plain and simple, which was great. It meant I had a blank slate to work with above the desk. I had to remember the colors I had originally wanted to stick with…
I added a few others colors, but I stuck to the plan pretty well.
Drum roll, please…
Notice that I moved the “Keep Calm and Eat a Cupcake” print from the kitchen. I felt it fit the space perfectly. I’m not completely finished with that wall. I have an addition to make under the picture.
The painted letters and diplomas were originally part of the bookcase decor. That area has been redone (post to come) and these pretties needed a new home. What better spot than above each person’s desk.
I looked for a wall system for awhile before I decided to purchase this one. I had originally wanted the Ikea Kvissle wall system, but I do not have an Ikea near my home. I refused to pay $15.00 to have a $14.99 item shipped to me. So, I visited Staples after a visit to my doctor’s ENT and picked up this Deflect-o Unbreakable 3 Pocket Wall File for $17.99. For some reason, it is more expensive online. The file folders were purchased at Target. They are the Greenroom recycled file folders in a geometric print. I have had them stashed away for over a year waiting for the perfect time to use them.
Side note: I live in a small town where all we have is a small Wal-Mart that isn’t even a 24 hour one. The nearest Target, Staples, Hobby Lobby, Office Max, etc. is an hour away. So, I always visit these stores when we have doctor’s appointments. A lot of the items I post about are purchased online when I can use a discount and/or get free shipping.
I only had three pockets to use, so I had to make sure I used the most beneficial categories. After some thought about what tends to pile up on the desk, I narrowed them down to:
- Family Business
- Bills to File
- Receipts to File
Tomorrow, I will share how I created the fabric memo boards. Stay tuned!
- White Stackable Paper Sorter – The Container Store
- Pink Metal Bin (on the left side of the desk) – Target
- White Brocade Pencil Cup – The Container Store
- White Ceramic Egg Rack – Kikkerland @ Amazon
- Silver Mesh Storage Bin – The Container Store
- Silver Mesh Stacking Bins – The Container Store
- Silver Mesh Pencil Cup – The Container Store
- Kansas City Chiefs silver bucket – a gift
And, now, I can make my first mark on my projects list…
