Thank you to everyone that took time out of their day to complete my survey. I greatly appreciate it. I didn’t have as many surveys completed as I wanted, but that is ok. With some social media outlets, like Facebook, sometimes y’all don’t see my posts as often as I would like. But, I got some AMAZING information to help me improve this little blog of mine. And, I would have to agree with all of the constructive criticism and critiques.
And, as promised, I wanted to share the results with y’all.
Question #1: What is your age?
I love that my readers are from all different age groups. It makes me happy! 🙂
Question #2: What is your favorite social media outlet?
Facebook seems to be the #1 social media outlet for my readers. This is expected, but Facebook is making is SO HARD for bloggers. They do not let everyone see what we post on Facebook. Most of the time, only a small percentage of people view each post, which is upsetting. I think they want us to pay to have our information pop up on your newsfeed every time. It is very frustrating! If you want to make sure you see posts, I suggest creating interest groups or mark “show notifications” on your page. I will do a post on that too!
Question #3: How long have you been reading The Gold Project?
Thank you for reading my little blog and being such loyal readers! This made me pretty excited. 🙂
Question #4: How often do you check out The Gold Project?
Question #5: What do you think about the frequency of posts?
It looks like I am doing a pretty good job on my frequency of posts. If nothing else, I will try to make sure I do 5 posts a week. I know I have slacked a little with all of my moving.
Question #6: What topics do you find the most interesting?
Without hesitation, I would say that anything dealing with organization was the #1 overall response, followed by anything dealing with the home and decorating. So, I hope that means I am doing a good job hitting the topics y’all enjoy the most.
Question #7: What topics would you like to see?
I loved this question because I got some awesome new blog post ideas. I wrote them all down and I thought I would share them with you.
- Blogging Basics
- How to Become More Organized
- Kitchen Organization
- Menu Planning
- Overcoming Procrastination
- Decorating Bookshelves
- Managing Your Time as a Working Mom
- Food Organization
- Classroom Organization
- Binder Series
- Child Organization Projects
If you didn’t get a chance to complete to survey, but have an idea for a blog topic, please shoot me an email or comment below. I plan on addressing every topic that I get.
Question #8: Why do you read The Gold Project?
The responses I got to this question made me feel really good about what I am doing with this space. Most of the responses included:
- Great organizing ideas
- Writing Style
I had a ton of amazing things that y’all said about me and my blog. I wish I could give every single one of you a big hug. 🙂
Question #9: What could make The Gold Project better?
I will be honest, I kind of cringed when I scrolled down to read the responses to this question. I wasn’t sure if I was going to get really hateful information or information that I could use. And, I am happy to report I was very happy with the feedback. Your constructive criticism was very beneficial and I will admit that I am knowingly guilty of it all.
1. You Tube Videos
I had several requests for me to create videos for my blog or start a YouTube channel. I would LOVE to do that, but there are a few things that I need to do before that can happen.
First, I have to purchase the equipment. My camera is for photos only. I don’t have the video capabilities, so I need to do some research on the best video cameras.
Second, my husband would have to agree to help me. I will be the first to admit that video editing is not my strong point. I have actually never done it before. My husband is the expert in that area. So, he would have to walk me through the process and help me. Anyone want to email him and help me persuade him (insert laughter)?
Third, I need to build up the confidence to do it. Public speaking has never been my strong suite. I do a lot of “umms” and “likes,” so I definitely need to work on that. But, I guess I can’t work on it until I sit in front of a camera and just do it. I can write all day long to express myself, but when it comes to talking, I’m not so hot. Plus, y’all would definitely get a nice view of my strong Southern accent. So, I am a little nervous about that as well. I am proud of it, but not sure how well it will come across on camera.
But, I am definitely thinking hard about the videos… I will keep you updated on this one.
2. Less Conversation & More Information
Yep! I am SO GUILTY of this one. I blame my OCD tendencies. My brain feels that everything needs a beginning, middle, and end, even if that means rambling. And, sometimes, I get a little wordy when I am trying to accomplish that task. I honestly don’t like to be that wordy, but I try to make sure I include every detail. So, I will work on that one.
3. More Consistent Posting Schedule
This is one that I have tried to do and I am still in the trial and error process of it. I would like to have a real consistent posting schedule, but it is going to take a lot more planning to make it happen. Plus, sometimes, things happen and they get me off track.
I have an editorial calendar that I look at and make adjustments to daily. And, I try my best to give y’all 5 posts a week, but sometimes, it just can’t be done. I don’t want to make a random post just for the sake of making a post. I want to make sure my content and photos meet my expectations.
If I had someone that assisted me, it would make a world of difference, but I am not at the stage of blogging yet. I do everything around this place, but I love it! Maybe as this blog grows, I can add contributors. I would love that!
Being a working mom makes a consistent posting schedule hard as well. I could say I want to make sure I post once at day at 5 pm and then, something happens with my kiddos or husband and that doesn’t happen. My blog gets attention after working, my husband, and kids. I plan to the best of my ability, but sometimes, things just happen.
I am working on this one, though. I promise!
4. Including a Link in My Post for Email Subscribers
Some of y’all get my posts emailed to you. Thank you so much for that. And, I actually have my posts emailed to my email account as well, so I can check things when needed.
A few people stated that they wanted to leave me a comment on my blog posts, but couldn’t because there wasn’t a link attached to the email. If you click the heading (DIY Storage: Box Tops, for example) in the email, it should take you directly to that post and you can leave me a comment. I would love to hear from you! Please let me know if this works.
Thank you to everyone that completed my survey. I wrote all of the information down and made some graph print outs. I am excited to see what is ahead for this little blog of mine. And, I wanted to show y’all a little proof that I read through every response…
