Happy Tuesday! I meant to start this week off yesterday, but the nasty stomach virus hit my household over Spring Break and delayed my posts. But, I am back today and ready to share a week full of travel goodies.
Since yesterday was supposed to be Day 1 of my Travel Week series, I am going to make two posts today.
Over Spring Break, my family did a small amount of traveling. My daughter turned five on March 19th and her big birthday present was to go to an actual American Girl store and pick out her first doll. Some of her family members also pitched in and got her giftcards to help with the accessories. We wanted to make it a special occasion because we only plan on purchasing her one. Plus, turning five was a milestone to me and her daddy. It meant our baby girl wasn’t a baby anymore (tear). I can’t believe she will actually be going to school a full day starting next year. Before you know it, Little Derrick will be doing the same.
We traveled to St. Louis on Friday, the 21st, stayed in a hotel overnight, then went and had lunch and shopped at American Girl the next day. It was a short trip, but when you are traveling with two little ones that aren’t good travelers, it was long enough.
Here are a few pictures from Kate’s big day…
The case with the doll Kate chose. She is the the middle one on the back row.
Watching the customer service lady make Kate and her new friend matching t-shirts.
Kate walked into American Girl and immediately spotted this doll. She didn’t want to look at any other dolls. She knew that was the one she wanted.
So, of course, that was the one she got. Plus, the gymnastics outfit.
Time for the birthday girl’s lunch!!!
Kate got a special cake and her doll got a special chair beside her at the table.
And, I FINALLY talked her into taking a picture with me in front of the sign.
My daughter had a wonderful time and we had a wonderful time just watching her happiness.
Since traveling is a little rare in our household, I decided to do a few posts about it. Throughout this week, I will be sharing:
- travel totes for kids
- road trip games
- how I pack for traveling
- plus some fun printables
I hope you stick around and check them all out.
