Good morning, everyone! I did not have a post scheduled for today until I opened up my blog and realized that 80% of my blog posts contained broken links and no visible photos.
What is a broken link?
A broken link is where you have a link that is supposed to take you to another location, whether that be on the same page, different page, or a different Website completely, but instead it just pulls up an error message.
Yep! That is my blog at the moment.
The work I am about to do is the type of work that some bloggers don’t understand when they enter the blogging world. It is the stuff that people do not tell you about until you experience it because I had no idea until I was knee deep in it. Sometimes, things mess up and you have to figure out how to fix them if you care about the content you have on your site. And, I am pretty anal about mine.
So, why is this happening?
In a nutshell, I have renamed my space too many times. Thankfully, my blog name and URL are now set, so I hope I do not experience this issue again. Fingers crossed! But, anything can happen when you are dealing with technology.
When I converted to WordPress last April, I had to import all of my blog posts to WordPress that were on blogger. If I kept that blogger account, then there shouldn’t have been an issue. Great! Everything worked ok, except the fact that my photos imported over WAY too small. But, my links were working.
Then, I changed my blog name again in September. I still kept my old WordPress URL, theocdlifestyle.net, so no problems still.
Then, this month, it was time for me to renew my WordPress account. Speaking to a WordPress associate, he didn’t see that not renewing theocdlifestyle.net would be a problem. So, I chose not to renew the name.
Well, big mistake…
When I imported over all of my files, they went under the theocdlifestyle.net. When I didn’t renew that name, all of the links became broken.
Now, I have to go back to every blog post made and reinsert photos and redo the links. So, please bear with me. It is going to take some time!
Honestly, it is something that I have wanted to do for awhile now, but I didn’t want to sit down and work on it. Now, I am being forced to do so. So, I should be able to completely remove my blogger account and have one URL to maintain. So, there is an upside to this issue.
